Boardwalk Billy's: Explore your hunger

Beach-Party-close-for-jeff

With two locations in Charlotte, North Carolina, for nearly 20 years, Boardwalk Billy’s has been a local favorite spot for enjoying fresh seafood, award-winning BBQ, and southern hospitality. We have outside patio seating—our University location even overlooks the lake—so think of us when that beautiful North Carolina weather begs you to spend some time outside with a cold drink.

Stop in to relax with a craft beer and a plate of Alaskan Snow Crab legs or slow-smoked Eastern Carolina BBQ pulled pork. With a menu covering all the bases, there is something for every taste—even vegetarian and gluten-free options. Both locations also feature their own weekly specials and different takes on the menu.

Our name says “Raw Bar & Ribs”, but don’t overlook our smokehouse wings—a customer favorite.

We have 12 wing sauces to choose from, so toss your wings, chicken fingers, or shrimp to your liking. Crab con Queso is a favorite starter, or share a plate of Southern Nachos while you peruse the rest of the menu, with options like: smoked meats, crab legs, shrimp and oysters (raw or steamed), burgers, wings, sandwiches, St. Louis-style ribs, tacos, fried green tomatoes, and more.

Originally opened in 1998 by Caribbean vacation enthusiasts Jeff Van Dyke and Henry O’ Boyle, Boardwalk Billy’s strives to be a place to take a quick “beach vacation” from the daily grind. “Everyone loves great seafood, BBQ, burgers, wings, and cold craft beer, so we try to keep it simple and fun,” says Van Dyke.

Our full bar includes dozens of beer taps, offering different craft beers daily, so your choices are never the same twice. We often feature local breweries, favorites of our staff and customers. With TVs across the restaurant, Boardwalk Billy’s is part sports bar as well as a relaxing vacation spot. If there’s a game on, we’re watching it. We serve food until 2 a.m., so it’s a great place to go for a drink and bite to eat when you’re up late.

We work hard each day to provide the best product available at a reasonable price, served by people who are passionate about the food and laid-back southern atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you into our home on the Boardwalk. So stop in, put it in park on one of our patios, enjoy the relaxing lake breeze, and make it a night to remember at Boardwalk Billy’s.

University

Located in the corner of the Shoppes at University Place, across from UNCC, our University location is the largest and most scenic of the two. Enjoy a walk along the lake and take a ride on the paddleboats, then stop in to relax with a craft beer—choose from one of 29 taps.

We have a patio overlooking the lake, plus one out front, so let the views, the breeze, and the fresh seafood transport you to the beach—even in the middle of the workweek. Our perimeter is floor-to-ceiling windows, so even when the weather outside isn’t perfect, your view of the lake and wildlife still is. Keep an eye out for our resident Great Blue Heron, “Soul of My Grandfather”.

With TVs across the restaurant, there’s not a bad seat in the house for all the biggest sports games. Our private party room includes more TVs, plus stunning lakeside views, and is available to be reserved for your next event.

Crown Point/Matthews

With a cozy, inviting pub vibe, everyone knows each other at Boardwalk Billy’s at Crown Point. The bar includes 16 ever-changing taps, plus an extensive list of craft bottles and cans. Crown Point is always full of locals, eager to enjoy the latest game and each other’s company.

Variations to their menu include fried pork rinds, soft pretzels, homemade mac ‘n cheese, and mozzarella sticks. Each weekend, they feature a different fresh fish, and offer several variations, from fried to grilled to fresh fish tacos.

The outdoor patio is covered and heated, so it’s available for seating year-round, with a corn hole game just steps away. Crown Point also hosts fun events, like its first ever “Jeep Night”, filling the parking lot with Jeeps and the restaurant with Jeep owners and enthusiasts.
